ICNNSW achieves record result during 2009-2010
ICNNSW has posted $473m of business for ANZ producers during 2009-10, its 3rd straight record result.
The result is an increase of $158m over 2008-09 results, and represents over 24,700 new jobs for Australians in just six months.
ICNNSW Executive Director Mr Philip Sellars has the organisation well placed for another record result in 2010-2011.
“ICNNSW has increased its success rate by providing valuable supply chain services to an ever increasing client list”, said Mr Sellars. “We now have significant involvement with major players in industries such as mining, construction, power generation, water, process plant, food production, and land transport.”
During 2009-2010, ANZ companies won substantial business in:
-
the Building the Education Revolution stimulus package
-
the Social Housing stimulus package
-
Coal mining and minerals handling projects
-
Power generation projects
-
Rail rolling stock (NSW Waratah Trains)
-
Water treatment projects
-
Wind energy projects, and
-
Recycling facilities
This coming year ICNNSW will help ANZ suppliers to win new business in mining operations both domestically and internationally. It is actively seeking opportunities in Chinese coal mining and is preparing to do similar with mining operations in South America and Africa.
ICNNSW is also working with ICN National Sector Specialists in Health, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energies, Water, Rail Transport, and the NBN Rollout, to increase ANZ participation in each of the sectors.
A substantial amount of business, $318m has been generated for regional producers during the period, and Mr Sellars advised that ICNNSW regional consultants are now recognised as a critical resource for regional project developers, and local businesses are securing important contracts as a result.
Demand for Australian mineral exports has bounced back after the Global Financial Crisis, and infrastructure projects are also providing opportunities. Added to this is a suit of renewable energy projects ready to proceed.
ICNNSW will play its part in job generation by continuing to seek opportunities within Australian projects, promoting Australian industry capability into international resource projects, and by introducing Australian producers to upcoming opportunities in sustainable energy production.
